ACCELERATION (CENTRIFUGE) testing The acceleration test is performed on a centrifuge to assure that material can structurally withstand the steady state inertia loads that are induced by platform acceleration, deceleration, and maneuver in the service environment, and can function without degradation during and following exposure to these forces. Acceleration tests are also used to assure that material does not become hazardous after exposure to crash loads. The acceleration test method is applicable to material that is installed in mobile platforms such as aircraft, helicopters, aerospace vehicles, air-carried stores, ground-launched missiles, trains, ships, automotive vehicles, etc. Acceleration testing is specified in the following: MIL-STD-202, MIL-STD-750, MIL-STD-810, MIL-E-5272, MIL-P-7788, MIL-M-7969, MIL-F-8615, MIL-S-8805, MIL-A-15303, MIL-E-16400, MIL-T-17301, MIL-F-18327, MIL-E-19100, MIL-S-19500, MIL-C-22437, MIL-B-23071, MIL-L-23886, SAE J-2031, UL-886, UL-1203, US COAST GUARD NO. 493, ISO-2669, SCL-7695, SCL-7722
